Couple embarrassed for “pathetic” wedding catering – and commentators have mixed reactions

When it comes to weddings, it seems everyone has an opinion. And with wedding dinners, these opinions only seem to increase in volume. A wedding guest recently sent a handful of photos from a friend’s reception to a wedding-shameful Facebook group, pointing to the modest offers in a mocking tone.

“A wedding celebration for your eyes,” wrote the anonymous guest next to posted pictures of unpackaged American power cheese, diced melons, carrot and celery slices, brownies and sliced oranges with the stickers still intact.

“You took the time to unwrap hundreds of slices of fake cheese but couldn’t help removing the sticker from the fruit?” One commentator wrote. Another added, who described the food as “pathetic”: “This looks like a catering spread for work. A low budget model. “

Other commentators judged the spread of the food even more clearly. “This is what happens when you ask your family to cook for your wedding,” one commenter wrote. Another suggested that the meal would be more appropriate for a children’s birthday party.

“This is basically what we served at my three-year-old’s birthday party,” wrote the commentator. “Unless we had quiche and strawberries.”

Despite the negativity, however, a few other commentators came in defense of the newlyweds, pointing out that each couple has a different financial situation and range.

Even if you are on a budget, you can get inventive with your menu options. (The average cost of catering was around $ 70 per capita in 2017, and that number varies by guest list.)

Some couples have recently built taco bars and margarita stands to make a themed experience more authentic and enjoyable for guests. Others have brought in food trucks to remove the formality of a sit-down meal. No matter what you choose, we encourage you to put your guests first with the love experience that accompanies your wedding day.
