Covered in a rare blizzard like a magical old wedding cake, these photographs of the Parthenon are going viral

Best known for its ancient architecture and mild climate, the city of Athens is currently covered in inches of snow, with temperatures falling into the negative digits. The city hasn’t seen so much snow in a decade – and it all happens in the middle of another two-week lockdown.

After schools closed, local children took to the streets for impromptu snowball fights while photographers captured unusual views of the city’s ancient monuments, including the Parthenon and Acropolis, in a winter wonderland.
