Everything you need to know about Dia Mirza’s wedding decor

When Dia Mirza decided to tie the knot with Mumbai-based businessman Vaibhav Rekhi, she envisioned her wedding in her lush garden, where she has spent most of her mornings for the past 19 years. The actress and producer, who is also the UN environmental protection ambassador, wanted her favorite mango tree to be in the background and the decor to be sustainable without the use of plastic. On February 15, 2021, Dia and Vaibhav made their marriage vows in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai in the presence of their friends and family. While we’ve already seen the dreamy photos of their wedding on social media, we’ll take you behind the scenes at how their beautiful wedding anniversaries came to life.

The dreamy decor from Aash Studio

Dia invited Aashna Saran, founder and creative director of Aash Studio, on board to bring her wedding to life. Saran says: “The wedding was a simple and soulful ceremony with a guest list of 60 people. Even so, the micro-wedding was very personal and curated, which reflected the couple’s elegant tastes. We decorated their 6,000 square foot garden in Bandra, Mumbai for the wedding. “

The mandap

Hindu wedding rituals are incomplete without a mandap. Dia and Vaibhav’s wedding was performed by a priestess – a way they broke Indian stereotypes. Saran reveals, “The couple didn’t want a mandap that was cramped – they wanted something that was open to the sky and brought in the nature around them. The setting consisted of mixed traditional Indian flowers that contrasted beautifully with Dia’s red Banarasi sari and complemented the mogra she wore in her hair. Traditionally, the four pillars of the mandap are of great importance at Indian weddings, as they represent the four phases of life. So we set up brass pots that have also given the mandap a structure. ”
