Judge rules same-sex wedding cake for California baker – Garden City Telegram
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — A California decide has dominated in favor of a bakery proprietor who refused to bake wedding ceremony muffins for a same-sex couple as a result of it went towards her Christian religion. The State Division of Truthful Housing and Employment has sued Tastries Bakery in Bakersfield, arguing that proprietor Cathy Miller deliberately discriminated towards the couple in violation of California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act. Miller’s attorneys argued that her proper to freedom of speech and expression trumped the argument that she violated anti-discrimination legislation. Kern County Superior Court docket Choose Eric Bradshaw dominated Friday that Miller acted lawfully whereas upholding her beliefs about what the Bible teaches about marriage.
