Wedding rings have become the bridal ring to wear during the pandemic

For the past six months and months to come, when it comes to jewelry, the simpler the better. When we WFH, we are often attracted and equipped above the waist for zoom calls. When we get back to work, we tend to choose relaxed jewelry that is easier to clean. Many of us wear our protective talisman necklaces, earrings that don’t interfere with our masks, and have taken delicate bracelets instead of bold stacking or a less-is-more approach when it comes to rings.

But what about engagement rings? With more zoom engagements and weddings happening, I’ve reached out to bridal designers and publicists to ask about their own rings, what they’re wearing, and what they’re recommending to their clients right now. Many of the designers I’ve spoken to have taken off their diamond or gemstone engagement rings and locked them in the safe. Instead, they’ve decided on a wedding ring or a stack of wedding bands to wear in the meantime. They explain why: They’re easier to wear and clean, especially when washing hands, hand sanitizer, and dressing more casually in general.

For those planning a little affair or a zoom wedding and / or buying an engagement ring but may not be ready to wear one yet, designers recommend a gold wedding ring with a hint of diamonds, or even a plain or textured gold band with one beautiful inscription for customers who are about to get married and now prefer simpler jewels. It is a way to mark your eternal bond with a bond that, like your love, is continuous and cannot be broken. And it can be worn with the engagement ring when you are ready to find and wear one.

Here are some of the designers’ own stories and the wedding rings in their collection they suggest:

“Since I walk around with my kids a lot, I always change my rings so the pandemic hasn’t really changed that. I still wear my wedding ring when I’m with my family, but when I’ve ventured out I go for styles that feels a bit sturdier, like one of our Clive Fluted Band rings. It is conceivable and has fluted edges. If you like diamond details, the Ottoline Diamond Baguette Ring is another great option as the diamond is not covered over the entire ring is set into a bezel for easy cleaning. We have many options for wedding rings in a variety of shapes and textures so they can still be fun and stand out for your engagement ring and show off your personal style. ‘

“I don’t like playing favorites, but I have to say that my Dangly Diamond Charm Ring is my new go-to place! I’m a diamond girl through and through so I always have to have something sparkling on my ring finger. Maybe it’s the jeweler in me and after all these years I’m so used to working with diamonds. I chose this style because the plaster tape doesn’t “gook” the disinfectant the way larger diamonds could, but the dangling diamond keeps it special and pretty! For me too, the thinner tape allows the disinfectant to dry faster and not get trapped under something thick and heavy as that’s the worst feeling. If the Dangly Diamond Charm Ring isn’t your style, I would recommend my Diamond Baby Baguette Ring. It’s so pretty too, and features a baguette diamond in the center that creates a lovely yet delicate focal point. ”

I have an antique marquise engagement ring from the 1920s. I wear it so much less now because we stay home and I don’t dress as well as I used to. I also have a baby that I play with a lot at home. It’s just easier to just wear one band and not damage my antique ring. “My husband and I have unisex wedding rings. Mine is engraved with” Toi et Moi “(you and me) and my husband’s is engraved with” Plus que here, moins que demain “(more today than yesterday, but less than tomorrow). We were married in France in 2017 so we decided to do French hand engraving. I love that my band is pure and simple. I would recommend this to couples who are getting married now or want something simple to get them through this one Bringing Times The same 18k yellow gold band has a low dome and is cast from a wax model I made. It is engravable and can be labeled with anything consistent with your relationship. “

“I’m a stacker. When I’m not wearing my engagement ring, I always like to have at least two rings for a substantial look. It was actually a fun time to really experiment with different bands and combinations – and lately I’ve been myself loved a little color, whether it is a mix of metal colors or precious stones. My current stack is two eternity bracelets from Bondeye Jewelry with rose quartz and rock crystal. I love the clear stones for summer and the facets are great in them, any imperfections to hide. I also often wear a Mood Ring from Nouvel Heritage and a Stacking Square from DRU – they look great together and both look good in any stack! “All are versatile and work better with the lifestyle we now have Life. “

“I like to have something unique that still makes a statement on my ring finger, which is why I’ve been wearing my Pave Diamond Open Marquis ring lately. It’s super light and thin, making it so comfortable and easy to carry. I prefer jewelry for the hot LA summers, plus the thinner rings are very easy to clean every day and also from all the disinfectant we use on our hands.

“If you’re into something a little more low-key, my Triple Pave Ball Stacking Ring may be the one you would choose. The diamond and rhodium really pop against the thin gold band so you don’t have to go without shine!

“While I could never get tired of seeing a sparkling diamond on my hand, I’ve now switched to something simpler. I like knowing that my heirloom ring is safe at home and won’t slip off with all the lather from washing hands, but when I’m completely ring free I feel like a part of me is missing. I wore my rose gold sandring from my California Collection. It feels soothing and fits perfectly under a glove. The simple texture is inspired by the sea and seems right for a time when you spend more moments alone in nature without compromising your connection with your spouse. ”

“The idea of not having my engagement ring on my hand never crossed my mind. However, with all the lifestyle changes that have occurred over the past few months, I’ve found that wearing just one band is my everyday life The daily care of my engagement ring was one less thing to worry about chasing my three year old around the house and the beach. The nice idea about this ring is that you don’t just wear a simple band. You always get still your shine, but with no maintenance or worry. In a way, you still wear your diamond ring. ”

“To be honest, I always wore wedding rings most days. They are traditionally in a pile of bands, even before Covid. Sentimental decisions keep it interesting and personal. I am wearing an emerald for my son whose name begins with E and my great grandmother’s white gold bracelet mixed with staples from the Megan Thorne Fine Jewelry line and the simple ribbon suggested by my husband who is a jewelry.

If you are looking for an all-round ring that can also be adjusted to fit yourself and whose stack is versatile, you should try the Evergreen Pave Sinu ring with a tiny pinch of diamond shimmer and an interesting silhouette. “
